What a shame that these people are too afraid to go to a clinic because the judgment they will receive. It's the same at home in Ireland. That's a great program that helps them receive care while on the street.
It's distressing that vulnerable people are suffering in today's time due to stigma and lack of facilities. I am glad that your program is making a great difference in homeless people's lives.
Along with medical care, psychological care is also so much needed! Just like you said, the stigma is a big stopper in changing homeless people's lives, accessing services and asking for help. Along with a fight to curb stigma and judgement but also improve people skills in service providers, we should also do our best in helping the homeless psychologically through addressing their self-esteem, trauma, fears and insecurities. So much work to do, yet so great that at least a part is being done and that access to medicine is getting better!
